John J. Burger, P.C. is a small architectural practice founded in January 1991, based in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia. Over a 30-year period, this office has produced a large volume of work with projects ranging from a few hundred square feet to upwards of 100,000 square feet, including office buildings, civic buildings, retail centers, warehouses, tenant improvements, churches, and recreation facilities.
This office has a strong reputation in the design and construction industry, and over 95% of our work has been with repeat clients, some for over 25 years. We're known for managing project teams, including consultants and contractors, bringing projects in on or under budget, and balancing functionality with design.
A 1977 graduate of Clemson University's College of Architecture and a licensed architect in Virginia. Before opening his own practice, he was Vice President and managing principal of a 20+ person Alexandria, VA design firm. His philosophy: architecture is the skillful management of people and money throughout the design process.
Joined the firm in 2022 after working at architecture firms in Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC on commercial tenant improvements, adaptive re-use, faith-based projects, university work, and multi-family and multi-story office buildings. Registered architect in Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland.
